PETALING JAYA: It was sweet reunion for Pixie, a seven-year-old Jack Russel Terrier, and her owner following her "abducting" by car thieves on July 30.
Pixie was found covered in mud and wandering along a roadside in Setapak by a resident, T Kasturi, on Monday.
She had been missing since 11pm on July 30 when her owner Gursharan Singh left his Mitsubishi Triton car outside a bank in Sungai Buloh to deposit some cheques. Robbers had driven the car away with Pixie inside.
Gursharan, 34, said he was extremely grateful to all the people who had helped find Pixie as it has been tough going without his pet.
He said had received a call from a P. Vidya who had sent him pictures of Pixie asking for verification.
He said he could not believe the call and had braced himself for disappointment since Pixie was missing for 12 days and his family and friends had told him to accept that a small dog could not have survived alone.
"Vidya sent a few pictures of her in different angles and I immediately recognised the markings on her body.
"I was completely ecstatic. Vidya then set a place for me to meet her and collect Pixie and I went and got her," he said when contacted by The Star Online.
According to Kasturi, she saw a dog by the side of the road while she was on the way to a friend's house and realised something was amiss. On driving back, she saw the dog at the same place in the same position.
She took the dog home, showered and fed her. She realised later that the dog was Pixie, the one reported missing in The Star Online and called Vidya who took the dog.
"They called Vidya who got in touch with me," Gursharan said.
Gursharan said Pixie was not hurt and was adjusting to the idea of being back home.
"I was extremely worried as she was afraid of thunder and lighting and I really do not know how she got through the last few days when it was raining heavily.
"I am sure Pixie would have a lot to say if she could talk," said Gursharan who has looked after Pixie since she was four months old.

PETALING JAYA: Advertising company co-owner Gursharan Singh, 34, has not had a proper meal or sufficient sleep since he lost his dog last Wednesday.
His seven-year-old Jack Russel Terrier, Pixie, was seated in his Mitsubishi Triton when a car thief drove the vehicle away at about 11pm outside a bank in Sungai Buloh.
"I parked my car very near a bank and went in to deposit some cheques.
"I took about ten minutes and when I came out I saw the man driving my car away with Pixie in it," said Gursharan Monday.
Gursharan says he is worried sick about Pixie.

"I don't care about the car and just want Pixie back," said Gursharan adding he has been crying incessantly since the incident.
Gursharan, who lived alone with Pixie, said he missed his pet very much and could not bear being at home as he was reminded about her.
"I love her very much and do not know how I am going to continue living without her.
"When I am back home, she never leaves my side and also sleeps with me on my bed," said Gursharan, who has raised Pixie since she was four months old.
He has made posters and posted them over social media offering a RM1,000 reward to anyone who returns Pixie back to him.
He said Pixie only ate home-cooked food and is also on long term medication due to health issues.
"I feel as if a whole chunk of my life is gone," said Gursharan who has been searching for Pixie with his girlfriend C. Shamini since she went missing.
