Do not blindly criticise, give credit when Pakatan policy is sound, says Nur Jazlan

Instead of blindly criticising policies implemented by Pakatan Rakyat, Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders should focus on showing their political maturity, said Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (pic).
The Pulai MP said this is the way to win the people's heart and they would be more attracted towards BN if its leaders could show political maturity instead of being petty.
"If PR-led state governments in Penang, Kelantan and Selangor implement policies that benefit the people, they should be given due credit."
"Furthermore, if it is proven to be effective, Putrajaya should consider implementing similar policies as well," he said.
Nur Jazlan said he supported Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz's statement over Penang's proposal to bar foreigners from being employed as the main cooks in hawker stalls in the state.
He said all parties should keep in mind that the well-being and welfare of the people should come first, not politics.
"Penang's idea is actually a good move as foreign tourists will be able to enjoy genuine Malaysian cuisine instead of dishes cooked by foreigners," Nur Jazlan said.
"This will be a boost for the local tourism industry as foreign cooks at hawker stalls do not have the same experience and skills like our local cooks," he said, when asked to comment about the Penang government's proposal.
Nazri's backing of the Penang's proposal had resulted in severe criticism from MCA who described it as a form of support for the DAP-led government in Penang.
Nur Jazlan said Nazri was trying his best to boost tourism in Malaysia, after it was badly hit by the twin disasters of MH370 and MH17.
"The twin losses of the Malaysia Airlines flights has hit tourism figures in Malaysia with a number of cancellations," Nur Jazlan said.
He said the tourism industry needed a transformation to ensure that the country could continue attracting foreign arrivals.
"One of the unique factors about Malaysia is the diverse food and drinks which is the result of our multi-racial society.
"It is pointless for someone to fly thousands of miles to our country to enjoy a local delicacy which is prepared by a foreigner."
Nur Jazlan said it was even worse if that foreigner was someone who was working illegally in the country.
He said BN should look at issues and policies from a different perspective.
"There is no harm in criticising a policy if it does not benefit the people. But at the same time, credit should be given where it is due.
"There are still many conservative BN leaders who should be adopting a mature political attitude.
"Leaders should think twice before issuing statements if they want to wrest back the states which have been won by PR." Nur Jazlan said. – August 3, 2014.
