Foreign national kidnapped, raped and robbed

BUTTERWORTH: A businessman was attacked by a group of men while his female friend was abducted and raped while resting at the Penang Bridge stop area early this morning.
Deputy state Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP Nasir Salleh said in the 3.30am incident, the 46-year-old man, with his foreign female friend, 22, were on their way home to Seberang Perai, when they were attacked by four men.
Nasir said the suspects initially asked for directions, before assaulting the man, and then robbing and kidnapping his friend, together with the victim's Hyundai Elantra.
"The suspects then took the car to a remote area in Sungai Dua, where the female victim claimed she was raped by three of the suspects," he said.
Nasir stated that the suspects also relieved the victim of her purse, mobile phone, RM1,000 in cash and other valuables.
He said that after several hours, the female victim was left by the suspects at a petrol station in Sungai Dua.
Her car was later found in Sungai Puyu, here.
She was subsequently taken to the hospital for a medical checkup before lodging a police report at the Mak Mandin police station.
Nasir said initial investigations revealed that all four suspects are aged between 20 and 30.
The case is being investigated under Sections 394 and 342 of the Penal Code for theft and kidnapping, as well as Section 376 for rape.
"We are investigating the incident. Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station to assist in the probe," he added.
