We delayed announcing this list due to the tragic news of The Shooting Down of Malaysia Airlines MH17 Over The Ukraine, respecting the 3 day mourning period. We cancelled all reviews during this period.
Our judging was based on the following criteria:
-Variety and Quality of Food & Beverage provided in the buffet.
- Taste of Food & Beverage, especially of the crowd favorites such as the Grilled / Roast Lamb, Briyani, Satay, Lemang and Rendang,
- Ambiance of the venue if it evoked the the Spirit of Ramadan
- Number of Live Cooking Stations
- Service provided by chefs at the live cooking stations
- Service & Attentiveness of staff.
- Capability to handle the crowd (As some places over sold their seats and was not able to provide proper service and quality).
- Value for money paid.
We did not take into account any of the Ramadhan buka puasa buffet previews done by most hotels for the media and bloggers, as most of them seem to give you the best offering during the preview but when it comes to the daily buka puasa buffet offering for the public, it sometimes does not live up to expectations.
- Capability to handle the crowd (As some places over sold their seats and was not able to provide proper service and quality).
- Value for money paid.
We did not take into account any of the Ramadhan buka puasa

Best Overall:
The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur
The Malay cuisine at the Royale Chulan was simply outstanding coupled with the amazing ambiance, the overall experience at the Royale Chulan gave it an edge over the Seri Pacific Kuala Lumpur. The number of live cooking stations alone made it impossible to taste all the great food in one visit.
If you are looking for the Most Succulent Roast Lamb and Satay head over to the Seri Pacific Kuala Lumpur. They have a good choice of Malaysian dishes and live cooking warung's. They even served some of the best Durians here.
If you are the type that is looking for a variety, then head over to The Mandarin Oriental which gave guest the most variety with different type of cuisines. They had the best Japanese and Indian sections among all the hotels.
If you are a fan of Desserts than you must visit the Westin Kuala Lumpur, they have great tasting and one of the best variety of desserts. If you enjoy the traditional Malay dishes in a "kawah" then you can't miss this place. You will be pleasantly shocked with the fare especially the Sambal Paru! They have great tasting food but loose points every year for not having a full roast lamb.
The Le Meridien has one of the best buffets in town all year round and it's no different during the Ramadan month. Their Celebrity Chef Zubir constantly delivers a huge variety of great tasting fare.
The Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur just like the PJ Hilton have been consistent in providing great tasting Cuisine over the years and doesn't need much promotion about it.
This year, we were not to keen to review the outlets that over pack their restaurants as it's impossible to have a good dining experience. We omitted listing a few hotels whose food items we found tasteless amd we minus the points of hotels that packed their restaurant with over their maximum capacity and put tables in corridors just to rake in the profits.

So during this last week drop by the above hotels, you will not be disappointed. We highly recommend the above hotels.
Special mention goes out to Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur for offering two different buffets for their guest. The full blown buffet at the Pacific Ballroom is Priced at RM108.00 and the other smaller buffet at Zende Restaurant is priced at RM56.00. This allows many more guests the opportunity to buka puasa in a 5 Star Hotel ambiance especially if budget is an issue. They are truly a hotel that cares!
