Grandma robbed, stabbed to death, with granddaughter in next room

KUALA LUMPUR: A 71-year-old grandmother was believed to have been robbed then brutally stabbed to death in her Sentul home, while her young granddaughter was in the next room.
Her neighbour said that at around 7pm Wednesday, she heard a commotion and screams by Swa Kim Chia, who lived on the first floor of a shophouse along Jalan Union.
The neighbour, who declined to be named, said she raced down only to bump into a man wearing a blood-soaked T-shirt.
"He said that she (Swa) was robbed and killed by three Indian men and he then ran off. I asked her grandaughter where she was and she pointed to the bathroom," the woman said, adding that she found the retired tailor in a pool of blood with stab wounds there.
She said she grabbed the five-year-old child and ran back to her home where she called the police
Police later arrested the suspect wearing the blood-soaked T-shirt.
"There were no signs of forced entry. The 35-year-old suspect is the woman's neighbour, who claimed that three individuals entered the victim's home, but witnesses said the suspect later ran to his home to change out of his bloodied shirt," said Sentul OCPD ACP R. Munusamy.
Residents here said Swa lived alone but cared and cooked for her young grandchildren during the day.
Her body was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
