PETALING JAYA, July 21 — Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) move to offer refunds without penalties for any flight destination has further deepened support from the public on social media.
In reply to MAS’ tweet about the refund, Sebastian Trudeau (@SebTrudeau) from Vancouver, Canada proclaimed his confidence and loyalty to the airline.
“@MAS thanks but no. still flying with you October and looking forward to it! #StayStrong,” he said.
Sophie (@SimplyBieberr) from Perth tweeted: “Malaysia Airlines offering full refunds to everyone who is travelling in the future is really generous considering it wasn’t their fault.”
Rita Lim (@ritalim) also stood behind the airline’s claims.
“Come on guys, this is not the fault of MAS at all,” she tweeted.
The outpouring of support was also evident on Facebook.
Responding to news of the refunds, Kim Tan shared her grief while affirming her loyalty to the airline.
“I’m heartbroken reading this. I will stick to the airline and the travel itinerary. We have good people working there, they need all our support. just need a revamp in the structure and culture of MAS,” she said.
Another user, Sharon D’Cruz, said she felt like siding with the airline.
“I have an overwhelming desire to support MAS now. I do think they have experienced pilots (albeit service can be improved) but helluva lot better than most other airlines. It’s a huge unfortunate incident, but they need a support more than anything.”
In a show of patriotism, Rookini Thayagarajan said there was no worry in flying with MAS and that she would support the airline.
“I’ve booked two tickets heading to Chennai coming August. But I will still fly with Malaysian Airlines. Nothing wrong flying with them. For me, if we Malaysians don’t show our support towards our liner then who else will?”
