KOTA TINGGI: The boyfriend of murdered Estonian model Regina Soosalu had his remand extended for the third time.
Another prime suspect also had his remand extended to Sunday.
Tunku Alang Reza Tunku Ibrahim and the other suspect were brought to the Kota Tinggi magistrate’s court here yesterday.
They were attired in the orange-coloured lock-up uniform.
Court officials said their remand period was supposed to end yesterday but it was extended for an additional three days to facilitate investigations into the murder.
The remand for four other suspects will also end on July 27.
Six suspects have been detained so far, including a 35-year-old man who was picked up by the police in Mersing on Monday.
Two are being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Soosalu, 30, was found dead while on vacation in Pulau Rawa on July 1.
The police initially suspected that she had drowned, but later changed their investigations to murder after discovering suspicious wounds on the woman’s body.
A foreign airline had quoted RM120,000 to fly her body home to Estonia, a price too expensive for her family.
Soosalu’s family has since decided that her body should be cremated in Malaysia.
However, the family of her boyfriend reportedly agreed to bear the expenses to take her remains back to Estonia.
