KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC secretary-general Datuk S. Murugesan has been appointed as the party's new treasurer-general after Datuk R. Ramanan vacated the post on Monday.
Party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, in a statement today, said that Murugesan had been tasked to bring all party affairs under one roof.
"With Murugesan's legal background, he will be able to manage the party accounts, funds and properties in a proper manner," he said.
Ramanan had stepped down from his position as the party treasurer-general after a High Court decision had found him guilty of fraud.
While Ramanan had told the press that he would be appealing the decision made, he wanted to step down from his post until his name had been cleared.
