Maritime officer loses temper in argument, shoots wife

KLANG: In what was believed to be a marriage-related dispute, a Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency officer fired several shots at his wife after a heated argument at the Giant supermarket here today.
The 45-year-old MMEA officer then went to the Port Klang police station and surrendered his Glock pistol with a bullet magazine, said Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Kamarul Zaman Mamat.
"It was learnt that he and his wife were at the ground floor of the supermarket at Jalan Depoh here in Port Klang shopping for groceries. They had an argument, and it escalated when the officer took out his gun and fired several shots at the direction of his wife," Kamarul said when contacted.
Fortunately, the shots missed his wife and hit the supermarket's glass walls.
"He has since been arrested and a remand order is to be obtained tomorrow," Kamarul added, saying the case was also classified under the Firearms Act.
