Suspected drug mule detained, Syabu worth more than RM1mil seized

   
JOHOR BARU: Police detained a woman, believed to be a drug mule, a seized syabu, believed to be worth RM1.5mil, from her bag in a raid at the Central Bus Terminal, Jalan Terus here last Jan 5.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the 56-year-old woman, whose husband is a Nigerian, was detained at 6.30pm after arriving from a neighbouring country.
He said the drug, in two packages, was found in a computer bag she was carrying.
"The woman, who works as a cleaner at a hotel in the neighbouring country, is believed involved with a drug trafficking syndicate," he told a media conference on Wednesday.
He said the arrest was made with the cooperation of the Singapore Central Narcotic Bureau.
The police are now looking for her 36-year-old husband, he added.
In another development, Mohd Mokhtar said the Johor police had crippled two car theft syndicates following the arrest of 26 people, including a woman in Ops Lejang on Jan 6 and last Saturday.
The syndicates are believed responsible for car thefts reported in Johor Baharu Selatan and Kluang, he added.
Following their arrest, he said, police seized eight vehicles, three of which were reported stolen in Plentong, Pasir Gudang and Taman Perling, Tampoi, as well as various tools, camera, handphones, sharp weapons, watches and lap tops.
Four of the suspects had previous records and 12 of them tested positive for drug, he added. - Bernama
