Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said the victim was in his 20s and had a spider tattoo, indicating he belonged to Gang 08.
Azlee said: “We believe the motive of the case could have been gang rivalry over a drug deal.”
At about 11am yesterday, police were alerted by the caretaker of the cemetery, who found the victim’s body sprawled out in a hut with his throat slit and hands and feet bound by duct tape.
Azlee said police believe the man was murdered at the scene but have yet to find any documents or further evidence to back that claim.
“We have so far recorded statements from the workers at the cemetery.”
The man’s body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and police are still waiting for family members to claim the body.
