KUALA LUMPUR: Syed Hamadah Syed Othman was appointed as the new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tabung Haji Board (TH) replacing Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin.
TH said in a statement that the appointment came into effect on May 6 and was approved by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.
In the same statement, TH Chairman, Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, said he was confident that Syed Hamadah's extensive skills and experience would be able to bring TH to a more outstanding and proud level.
"I am confident that with the extensive skills and experience possessed by Tuan Syed Hamadah, he will be able to continue efforts to strengthen TH in terms of governance and operations to a more outstanding and proud level in the future," he said.
Graduated with an Honors Degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Syed Hamadah has extensive experience in the corporate sector and is a director and partner at Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn Bhd.
He has more than 25 years of experience and specializes in consulting multinationals and local organizations on pension design, financing, pension accounting, mergers and acquisitions.
He served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Retirement Fund from 2018 to 2020, and is currently a Fellow at the Actuarial Faculty and a Fellow at the Malaysian Actuarial Association.
