Assistant Scuba Diving Instructor arrested for molesting a Chinese tourist while scuba diving

SEMPORNA: An assistant scuba diving instructor was arrested by the police after being suspected of molesting a Chinese female tourist while doing diving activities in the waters of Semporna.
The 27-year-old man was arrested at 12.50 midnight on Sunday at an accommodation after a police report was received from the victim on Saturday.
Acting Semporna District Police Chief Assistant Superintendent Arif Abdul Razak said the incident happened on Friday when the 25-year-old victim was scuba diving.
"A report was received by a Chinese female tourist who said that at about 1pm on Friday she was kissed by an assistant scuba diving instructor while scuba diving in the waters of a resort island in the district.
"The complainant then made a police report the next day before moving to Tawau Airport to depart for Kuala Lumpur and continue the flight back to her country of origin," he said in a statement on Monday.
Following the report, Arif said, the suspect in this case was immediately arrested.
"The suspect is a local who works part-time as an assistant scuba diving instructor with a scuba diving center.
"The investigation is being conducted under Section 354 of the Penal Code and a remand has been requested under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code until this Thursday for further investigation," he said.
