RM44.23 million! - school transportation (bus) service contract for children of armed forces personnel throughout Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Gunung Capital Bhd’s unit, GPB Corporation Sdn Bhd, has secured a service contract from the Ministry of Defence worth up to RM44.23 million.

The contract is for the provision of a school transportation (bus) service for the children of the armed forces personnel throughout Malaysia, namely the south, east, north, Sabah, and Sarawak zones for three years.

“The tenure of the service contract awarded is from Jan 1, 2020 to Dec 31, 2022, comprising 33 months of school sessions,” the company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

The scope of services is to provide transportation to, and from the nominated schools, for the children of the armed forces personnel nationwide.

“This service is for school children residing within the armed forces quarters which include the provision of services for 77 armed forces camps over five zones.

“The company estimates that a total of 233 units of 44-seater buses, and 85 units of 25-seater buses will be required to fulfil its obligations under this contract,” Gunung said.

It added that GPB Corporation was also required to provide a mandatory training programme under PROTÉGÉ (Professional Training and Education for Growing Entrepreneurs) to a total of 18 graduates during the duration of the contract.
