PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic) questioned why a charity sale to raise funds for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) in Alor Setar was stopped by the city council.
"When the public comes forward to help TAR UC by contributing food and items to be sold to raise funds, the Pakatan Harapan government disrupts it.
"Yesterday (Saturday, Dec 21) the sale was stopped and all the items seized as soon as the stalls were opened. The excuse being that the location was not suitable for a sale. Only activities related to TAR UC were stopped. The other stalls were not disturbed.
"This clearly shows that they were targeted," he claimed on his Facebook page.
The fund-raising campaign was initiated by Alor Setar MCA Wanita and Youth division, with items such as food, soft toys, fish and other accessories sponsored by donors and local businessmen.
Despite the seizures, the fund-raising team managed to raise about RM2,500.
