Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri will leave his post as the chief executive officer of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) after serving the body for one year.

He was appointed on March 11, 2019 and will vacate his office on March 10, 2020. He was originally scheduled to leave the post in March 2021.

A press release from Finas stated that Ahmad Idham has sent in a request to shorten his two-year contract to just one year for personal reasons, and that it has been approved.

Astro Awani had reported on Dec 3 that Ahmad Idham was going on a three-month break starting this week.

Last month, Ahmad Idham made headlines when he stated to Bernama that the authorities should consider introducing a law to regulate the contents on digital platforms

This statement didn't sit well with those from the entertainment industry as well as the public as they questioned his motive. Ahmad Idham later clarified his suggestion by saying he had only proposed to debate the issue in the context to strengthen digital content in the future.

His replacement has yet to be announced.
