Police seize RM2.14mil worth of drugs in series of raids

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have seized RM2.14mil worth of drugs and arrested four people in a series of raids in the Klang Valley.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the first raid was at KL International Airport 2 where police arrested two men in their 30s.
"We nabbed them as they were sending their wives to the airport for a holiday.
"Following the arrests, we tracked down two more syndicate members in their 20s to an apartment in Wangsa Maju," he told a press conference at Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Saturday (Jan 19).
At the apartment parking area, police found several kilogrammes of unprocessed heroin base and heroin.
He added that the raids took place between 10.30pm on Wednesday (Jan 16) and 2.15am on Thursday (Jan 17) and said that the arrests led the police to two more locations in Shah Alam where more drugs were seized.
Comm Mohmad said that the police seized a total of 19.6kg of heroin base, 11.8kg of heroin, 1.5kg of syabu, 4,250 of erimin 5 pills, and 3,380 ecstasy pills, all worth around RM2.14mil and impounded three cars and a motorcycle worth around RM130,000.
Comm Mohmad said the group had been active in the east coast and Klang Valley for the past 10 months.
"They smuggled the drugs in from the east coast.
"Three of the four arrested also have prior drug related criminal record and all four have been remanded until Jan 24," he said.
Comm Mohmad also said police have arrested 9,739 people in drug related cases from Jan 1 to Jan 16 this year.
"We have also seized a total of RM32.12mil in drugs along with the arrests," he said.
