KLSC Bukit Jalil will not be temporarily closed, says Youth and Sports Ministry

PETALING JAYA: The Youth and Sports Ministry has determined that the Kuala Lumpur Sports City (KLSC) will not need to be temporarily closed as it is still in a good condition.
"The Ministry and the National Audit Department chief office have agreed that KLSC is in a good condition and is safe to be used to organise any events and activities," the Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 5).
KLSC Bukit Jalil includes the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex.
The Ministry said this following safety issues at KLSC that were revealed in the Auditor-General’s Report 2017 Series 2.
"This is proven by the successful organisation of events at the KLSC venues including international standard events such as the Kuala Lumpur Games 2017, and the Kuala Lumpur Major 2018.
"Currently the Bukit Jalil National Stadium has also been selected as the venue to hold the Malaysian team's match at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018," it said.
The Ministry also assured that the public's safety would be its utmost priority, adding that it will not compromise on any parties who fail to comply with safety procedures.
"This is to ensure that the public will be able to use the facilities provided in a safe environment as well as able to conduct its activities," it said.
The Ministry added that it will work closely with the National Audit Department to take the corrective measures that it had suggested.
