True or Not: TNB denies nationwide power cut on Dec 18
PETALING JAYA: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has disproved a social media posting claiming that there would be a nationwide power outage this Sunday (Dec 18).
Its senior general manager (corporate affairs and communications) Datuk Ir Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin urged consumers to stop sharing the post as it had caused confusion.
“Consumers are advised not to continue sharing the post as it has caused confusion.
“For latest information on the periodic maintenance work carried out by TNB, users are advised to visit our website (https://www.tnb.com.my/residential/power-alert/),” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Consumers could also get in touch with customer service officers via the TNB Careline Facebook page or hotline at 1300885454, added Mohd Aminuddin.
The fake posting, which was being shared on Facebook over the last few days, claimed that there would be no electricity throughout Malaysia between 10am and 5pm on Dec 18.
The originator of the post also claimed that areas in Selangor such as Subang and Petaling Jaya would be affected by the power outage.
