KUALA LUMPUR: Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah left Istana Negara on Monday morning for the royal send-off ceremony to mark the end of their majesties' five-year reign.

The Agong and Raja Permasuri arrived at Parliament Square at 8.30am where they was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Cabinet ministers and deputies ministers.

The ceremony began with the Negaraku before the Agong inspected a guard of honour by the Royal Malay Regiment.

Also present to witness the ceremony were foreign dignitaries.



The road long Jalan Parlimen was lined with members of the public who seen waving Malaysian flags.

The Agong and Raja Permasuri later bade farewell to those present and left Parliament complex at 8.50am for the Bunga Raya Complex at the KL International Airport (KLIA), from where they will fly home to Kedah.








The ceremony at the Bunga Raya Complex involved an elephant procession and cultural performances.

Tuanku Abdul Halim ended his term as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Monday. He will be replaced by Kelantan Ruler, Sultan Muhammad V.

Tuanku Abdul Halim made history when he became King for the second time in 2012 after being installed for the first time in 1970.
