KUALA LUMPUR: The 13-year-old girl who had gone missing from her house in Taman Sri Sentosa was believed to have left home to meet her friends.
She was found after a concerned citizen recognised her from a social media posting and called the girl's father.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Sharul Othman Mansor said the girl was believed to have left home to meet with two of her friends at KL Sentral on Friday.
"She left home with only RM5 and when she reached KL Sentral, she realised her friends did not come.
"She tried to get back home but took the wrong bus and ended up at a fast food restaurant near Section 7, Shah Alam, at around 10pm.
"She slept at a surau at a petrol station," he said, adding that a concerned citizen saw the girl's picture on social media and called her father.
ACP Sharul said the girl was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a medical check.
"The girl did not have any injuries and is believed to be in good health," he said.
Sukhpreet Kaur (pix) was reportedly last seen outside her house around 12.30pm on Friday before she went missing.
Her mother, Raspar Kaur, 42, said Sukhpreet was home alone at the time.
"She was last seen on the CCTV going outside the house around 12.30pm.
"She sometimes goes to a nearby shop to buy things but she has not come back," Raspar said when contacted on Saturday.
The family lodged a police report at the Petaling police station.
