Businessman with 'Datuk Seri' title charged with assaulting wife in public

KUALA LUMPUR: A businessman with the title ‘Datuk Seri’ pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court here today to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt on his wife.
Datuk Seri Halim Mohd Ali, 51, was charged with committing the offence on Rosarita Saad, 36, by pulling her hair, and punching and slapping her on the head and face in an area near RHB Bank, Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras here, at 11.30pm last Nov 23.
He faces imprisonment of up to two years, or a fine of not more than RM4,000, or both, if found guilty.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid allowed Halim, who was unrepresented, bail of RM2,000 with one surety and set March 2 next year for mention.
