Bodyguard shoots snatch thief who grabbed a woman's necklace in Taman Sri Manja
KUALA LUMPUR: A snatch thief who grabbed a woman's gold necklace was injured when he was shot by a bodyguard of a Datuk at Taman Sri Manja here today.
A source said the 21-year-old suspect, who tried to flee the scene on a motorcycle with an accomplice, sustained injury on his right shoulder in the incident.
His accomplice injured his right leg after he fell off the machine.
"The bodyguard and his employer was driving along the road when they saw the incident and give chase before opening fire.
"The shot hit the suspect who was riding pillion, causing their motorcycle to skid and crashed on the road shoulder," he said, adding that passers-by who saw the incident detained the duo before handing them over to the police.
They were then taken to University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.
Police, he added, have recorded statements from the bodyguard and the Datuk to assist investigation.
