KUALA LUMPUR: A father of five who punched and threatened to kill his wife for texting his mistress was sentenced to five months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som sentenced Nasser Adli, 47, after he pleaded guilty to causing injury to Susanti Susana Cabrera Gato, 48, a Filipino, by punching her in the abdomen and waist.

The accused also pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation by uttering death threat (to kill the victim) with intent to cause fear.

The court sentenced him to five months jail each for the two charges and ordered the sentences to run concurrently from the date of arrest on June 6.

Nasser, a construction worker committed both offences at a house in Jalan 1/38J, Taman Indah Murni, Segambut Tengah, here, at 9.30pm on June 5.

Based on the facts of the case, the accused had hit, twisted the arm and punched his wife on the abdomen and waist because he suspected she had sent text messages to his mistress to ask about their affairs.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin conducted the prosecution while counsel Cyrus Tiu Foo Woei represented the accused. --Bernama
