ALOR STAR: New Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in Putrajaya today, reportedly to discuss the line-up of the new Kedah state executive council.
A Kedah Umno leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity when contacted, confirmed what he claimed was a four-eyed meeting between the two leaders.
“It is believed that the meeting between Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah and the Prime Minister was to discuss the line-up of the new state executive council.
“The line-up is confidential. The Menteri Besar himself will announce whether the existing state executive council will be retained or dropped,” said the leader.
Ahmad Bashah was appointed the 12th menteri besar of Kedah last Thursday after Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir resigned citing lack of majority support in the state legislative assembly.
Ahmad Bashah had been reported as having said that his meeting with the Prime Minister would determine whether the existing state executive council would be retained or reshuffled.
He had also said that the new state executive council line-up would be announced after the Chinese New Year, which would now most probably be next week.
Ahmad Bashah will be in Kuala Lumpur today and tomorrow.--BERNAMA
