GEORGE TOWN: Penang has added another feather to its cap after CNN Money picked George Town as the sixth “Best place to retire abroad in 2016”.
Penang beat Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic, Cuenca (Ecuador), Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) to claim the sixth spot out of 10 in a Jan 6 report by Katie Lobosco.
Lobosco said there were lots of things to see and do in George Town including museums, art centres, free concerts, jungle parks, beaches and amusement parks.
She described George Town as extremely affordable and highlighted its modern public transportation and first-rate healthcare system.
The list’s top five spots were Algarve (Portugal), followed by Cayo (Belize), Medellin (Colombia), Pau (France) and Abruzzo (Italy).
