SUNGAI PETANI : A 16-year-old religious school student was charged in a magistrate's court here with possession of Islamic State (IS) propaganda material.
He was charged under Section 130 JB(1) (a) of the Penal Code.
He faced two others charges of criminal intimidation of a salesgirl under Section 506 of the Penal Code and being in possession of a fake firearm under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960.
The youth pleaded not guilty to the three charges.
He allegedly committed the offences at about 9pm on Jan 11 at a CD and VCD sales booth at Billion Shopping Mall in Jalan Pengkalan here.
He told the salesgirl to call police and later surrendered to them.
Magistrate Adibah Husna Abidin fixed March 23 for re-mention of the case.
The youth was denied bail in a closed-door court proceeding.
DPP Norshuhada Mohd Yatim prosecuted.
