An explosion occurred during a warehouse fire that broke out in Jurong. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network.
SINGAPORE: A fire broke out at a warehouse at Tanjong Kling Road in Jurong on Monday, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) on its Facebook page.
"Warehouse fire happening now at Tanjong Kling Road. SCDF resources are currently on site. More updates coming up," SCDF posted at 10.52am.
According to a Facebook post put up by community page Taxiuncle Group minutes later, an explosion had occurred.
It claimed that a "big scale of rescue work" was in progress and advised people to avoid the area.
Twitter user @Alibaba_160194 posted a 30-second video of the scene, which showed thick grey smoke emerging from what appeared to be a factory complex, followed by a huge ball of fire and the sound of an explosion.
At least four fire engines could be seen in the vicinity of the fire.
When contacted, SCDF said it would be issuing a press release on the incident. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
