KUALA LUMPUR: A new submission for a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not be heard at the current Parliament sitting, says Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia (pic).

"I want to remind Permatang Pauh if she wants to go ahead with this motion and if the motion fulfills Standing Orders 26 and 27 - even if it is accepted - will only be at the next meeting and not this meeting," said the Parliament Speaker.

Pandikar said the move by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh) to submit the motion should be done in accordance with Standing Orders, which required it to be done 14 days before the start of Parliament proceedings.

The present meeting began on Oct 19 and will end this Dec 3, with the date for the next sitting early next year to be decided later.

On Monday, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said Pakatan Harapan had agreed for Hee Loy Sian (PKR-PJ Selatan) to retract the motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

She said a fresh motion would be submitted by her.

However, Anthony Loke (DAP-Seremban) told Pandikar that there was a precedence when Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (PAS-Marang) filed a private member's bill on hudud during an ongoing Parliament sitting, and was included in the Order Paper.

Pandikar said if that is the case, he would look into it.

In the Parliament lobby, Dr Wan Azizah said they would go ahead with plans to resubmit a fresh motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister.

"I will seek an appointment with the Speaker following his views on the Opposition's move to resubmit a fresh application," she said.
