PETALING JAYA: Dr Harathi Dorairaja proved herself to be a beauty with brains when the dentist was crowned the 16th Miss MalaysiaIndian Global.
Her win over 14 other finalists at Hilton Petaling Jaya on Sunday was a pleasant surprise for the 27-year-old Penangite.
“I’m surprised and happy. Everyone here is beautiful and carries themselves well,” she said, adding that the competition had taught her to have trust in herself.
Her response during the question-and-answer session of the grand final impressed judges and the audience of 400.
“Wisdom” was her answer to the question on her opinion of a man’s strength.
History, she noted, had always judged a man’s strength based on the decisions he made.
Dr Harathi’s title brought her a host of prizes, including round trips to Australia’s Gold Coast and Nepal and saree from Miss MalaysiaIndia Care Association.
Teacher Sajjini Michelle Kurasamy, 27, and undergraduate Vinothini Karrupiah, 23, took second and third places.
