Liow: MACC part of team probing KLIA2 issues

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is among the agencies in a special team auditing development and construction issues related to KLIA2, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).
The Transport Minister said the special team was set up in August and would complete its probe in six months.
"The special team will carry out an audit on the construction and development of KLIA2," he said in a written reply to a question raised by Mohamed Hanipa Maidin (Amanah-Sepang) in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.
Besides MACC, the special team also includes representatives from the Audit Department, Transport Ministry, Works Ministry, Department of Civil Aviation, Finance Ministry and the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister's Department.

Liow also said the report by the Safety Committee on safety issues and their implications affecting KLIA2 will be ready by the end of this month.
He said the committee, set up in January this year, carried its audit on subsidence at the parking apron, water retention at the taxiway and runway as well as cracks at the terminal building.
The independent committee comprises representatives from the DCA, Works Ministry, G&P Professional, Petronas and the Board of Engineers.
Since September this year, RM76.5mil was spent to carry out repairs on the defects, he said.
