Special Branch deputy director gets transfer letter after weeks of rumours.

After weeks of rumours, Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador has finally received his transfer letter to head a new security division in the Prime Minister’s Department.

It is understood that the transfer order was issued yesterday while Hamid was still on long leave.

Hamid is expected to report for duty at the Prime Minister's Department after his leave ends on August 28.

Hamid today attended a simple ceremony held behind closed doors to hand over duties to his successor, Datuk Mohd Haniff Hanudin.

He told the Malaysiakini news portal that he did not know the reasons for his abrupt transfer.

"I don't know why I was transferred. Maybe, they don't like want me to be there," Hamid told Malaysiakini today.

He said any further query on the transfer should be directed to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Hamid is the latest civil servant who has been abruptly transferred from his post.

On August 7, two Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) directors were transferred to the Prime Minister's Department with immediate effect.

The order was cancelled on August 10 after the MACC duo – special operations division director Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin and strategic communication director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob – met with Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

Both were reinstated to their post in the anti-graft body. – August 19, 2015.
