Rosmah wants apology from Asia Sentinel journalist over article

PETALING JAYA: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has given Asia Sentinel journalist John Berthelsen 48 hours to issue an unconditional apology to her for allegations made in his article “Malaysian PM’s Wife Seeks Central Bank Governor’s Ouster”, which was published on July 30.
“Unless Mr Berthelsen has full proof and justification in making the representations and imputations, he is to issue an unconditional and voluntary apology within the next 48 hours,” said Rosmah’s lawyers Noorhajran Mohd Noor Advocates and Solicitors in a press release yesterday evening.
The firm said Rosmah was also concerned about the “improper and outright breach of the publication of her personal account to the public”.
“In her view, if no positive action is taken to probe the breach of her account, the same can also happen to the account of other banking consumers,” it said.
“This may erode the trust of investors and consumers of financial institutions.
“My client views this breach as being serious, hence the suggestion and hope that a probe be accorded,” it added.
It said Berthelsen should surrender all information regarding the matter to the relevant authorities in the investigations, also within the next 48 hours.
The firm also pointed out that Rosmah supported any investigation by the lawful authorities, and refuted the claims made in Berthelsen’s report.
“My client firmly denies the allegations made by Mr Berthelsen that she is to oust the Governor of the Central Bank,” the release said.
“My client holds no authority nor any harmful or malicious intent against the said Governor or anyone else.”
