Defence Minister Hishamuddin - public could be assured of this as the process of seeking truth and justice has begun.

No refuge for wrongdoers

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will never protect any wrongdoer in the 1MDB controversy, says vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
He said the public could be assured of this as the process of seeking truth and justice has begun.
“Even the PAC has Opposition members involved in the investigation.
“There should be governance and accountability.
“Those suspected of wrongdoing or misappropriation will have to face the courts.
A wrong is a wrong,’’ Hishamuddin said when opening the Batu Umno AGM at Kompleks Darul Kifayah here yesterday.
The Defence Minister said it was not fair to charge or attack someone based on allegations circulating in Twitter and Facebook, adding that persecution and trial by social media based on wild allegations was unwarranted.
“Perhaps this is a ploy by certain parties to split Umno and make us clash with each other,” he said, expressing confidence that the 1MDB issue would be resolved by the end of the year.
Calling on members to remain united, Hishammuddin said Umno had always emerged stronger after undergoing challenges in the past.
He recalled that his grandfather Datuk Onn Ja’afar, who founded Umno, was ostracised when he suggested that the party accept non-Malay members.
“My grandfather had to move from Johor to Terengganu then,” he said.
He added that Onn had a tough time in Johor because members put party above even the founder.
“But my grandfather’s vision has become a reality in the context of Barisan Nasional,” he said.
Hishammudin thanked former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for saying he will continue to help Umno and not resort to anything detrimental.
He also said that the leadership did not block any division from inviting Muhyiddin to open Umno meetings.
