KUALA LUMPUR — An unemployed man has pleaded not guilty to molesting a nine-year-old girl.
Mohamed Shaznee Jahn Mohamed Yasin, 20, was alleged to have touched her private parts and licked her lips.
He was said to have committed the offence near a staircase of a condominium block in Danau Kota Setapak on June 26.
If convicted, he can be jailed up to 10 years or fined or whipped or face any two of such punishments under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging her modesty.
The girl’s family lodged a complaint against him on July 12.
DPP N. Joy Jothi offered him bail at RM10,000 in one surety.
Pleading for a lower bail, the accused said he could not raise the amount.
His father who was present in court said he would be the bailor and that he was earning RM3,000 a month.
Magistrate Jesseca Daimis set bail at RM7,000 and fixed Aug 17 for mention pending appointment of his lawyer.
