SELAYANG: A mother accused of burying her son’s body in the kitchen floor to protect her husband is still undergoing psychiatric evaluation in Hospital Bahagia.
Tan Boa Jia, 32, was supposed to turn up at a Sessions court on Friday for the psychiatric report to be presented.
However, DPP Sharifah Zulia Balqish Syed Agil asked for another date to be fixed as the report was not ready.
Magistrate Nurliana Ismail set Sept 8 for next mention.
On June 12, Tan and her husband Loo Chon Wen, 33, were charged in connection with the discovery of their nine-year old son's body under the floor of a rented home in Kepong.
Loo was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, while Tan was charged under Section 201 for causing the disappearance of evidence.
She is accused of burying the victim's body inside the house with the intention to protect her husband.
Tan's lawyer, Kitson Foong, had asked for a psychiatric evaluation to done for his client, specifically for "battered wife syndrome", before they decided on her plea.
The battered wife syndrome is a mental disorder that can develop in victims of serious and long-term domestic violence.
Their son, nine-year old Loo Yong Shen Evan, was the third of the couple's four children.
The Court is also waiting for a forensic report before Loo can be brought to the High Court for his plea to be heard.
They were charged with committing the offences on March 29 at 2pm in Taman Usaha Jaya, Kepong.
On May 29, renovation workers found the boy's body in cement under the kitchen floor of the couple's rented house in Kepong after detecting a foul stench.
The couple had allegedly asked their landlord for permission to repair a bathroom in March before vacating the house without notice.
