Social media chat led to rape, claims victim

SUBANG JAYA: From a casual chat over the social media, a hospital worker ended up being held captive by her rapist who threatened to release their sex videos.
The 24-year-old woman told police she was drugged, repeatedly raped and kept in a condominium by the man she befriended through BeeTalk in June.
They met for the first time on July 7 and her ordeal began.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the woman claimed that the man picked her up from her home and took her for a drive around Kuala Lumpur, before stopping at a petrol station to buy drinks.
The woman said she could not remember where the petrol station was but said the man bought her a bottled soft drink.
“She drank it and claimed she became dizzy, lost consciousness and could not see where she was being driven to.
"However, she remembers passing Sunway Pyramid on the way to the suspect’s condominium,” ACP Yahaya said.
The woman said she woke up the next day in the man’s bedroom, naked. She said her private part hurt and she confronted the man.
“She said that the suspect threatened her with naked videos of her and did not allow her to leave his apartment.

"She was held for two days and the man raped her several times,” ACP Yahaya said.

The suspect reportedly released the woman on Friday morning, driving her to Sunway Pyramid and leaving her in the shopping mall where she asked for help.

ACP Yahaya said the woman lodged a report but her story gave police little lead on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect.

She claimed the suspect also took her smartphone, eliminating any proof of their friendship.

“We have classified the case as rape and are looking at all angles to track down the suspect,” ACP Yahaya said.
