Task force raids 1MDB office

KUALA LUMPUR: Scores of officers from the special task force raided the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) office at Menara IMC here.
There was tight security outside the building prior to the raid which began at 9.40am yesterday.
Sources said more than 20 officers immediately cordoned off the eighth floor, where the 1MDB headquarters was located.
Two policemen carrying documents left the premises at about 2pm.
A four-wheel drive vehicle was loaded with a few boxes of documents with the 1MDB label on them.
At 6.20pm, a group of plain clothes men, believed to be police officers, left with a computer CPU and a box believed to contain documents and materials.
Asked if they had completed their investigations, an officer replied: “Sudah selesai (It’s done).”
Earlier, when the raid began, security guards ordered journalists to wait outside the lobby and not to take pictures or videos.

Office workers of the host of companies renting space in the building went about their business as usual.
The Star journalists managed to go up to the eighth floor at one point and got a glimpse of the ongoing raid.
Officers from the special task force were questioning and talking to some 1MDB staff.
A receptionist said the police and 1MDB gave instructions not to allow anyone into the office.
“Even the despatch boys are not allowed in,” she added.
1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy later told reporters his officials fully co-operated with the task force who conducted their work in a thorough and professional manner.
“As of today, we are completed,” he said when asked whether the task force could come back for more.
In a statement, 1MDB said: “We reaffirm our previously stated position that if any wrongdoing is found, then action must be taken by the lawful authorities as per due process and the laws of our country
