PUTRAJAYA: Cabinet members who have lost faith in the Prime Minister should resign and not wait to be sacked, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Home Minister said as members of the Cabinet, it is “compulsory” for ministers to agree with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in every decision.
“The power to appoint Cabinet members belongs absolutely to the Prime Minister. So is the power to sack them.
“As Cabinet members, it is compulsory for us to agree with the PM in every decision he makes.
“If there are ministers who lost faith in the PM, or are questioning his decisions, even more so when they have made open statements, the honourable thing to do is to step down.
“I do not think they should wait for the PM to sack them,” said Dr Ahmad Zahid at a press conference after his ministry’s monthly assembly, here, Thursday.
He was asked to comment on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.
Najib had reportedly issued an ultimatum to his ministers that they should resign if they did not see eye to eye with him on the 1MDB controversy.
