PETALING JAYA: Police are hunting down bogus cops behind the murder of a 19-year-old teenager whose hacked up body was found in a gunny sack near Port Klang.
In the March 9 incident, the teenager was ‘arrested’ at his home by three men claiming to be police officers.
According to the victim’s mother Parvati, the men showed up at their home in Taman Laksamana, Klang, at about 2am clad in uniform and carrying weapons.
The family went to the Shah Alam police station the following morning to see their son but were shocked to learn that there had been no such arrest.
Police found the teenager's dismembered and beheaded body near Port Klang that night.
Selangor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said on Thursday that with information they already have on the case, police hope to solve the murder soon.
"The suspects are NOT police officers.
"We are hunting them down and once arrested, we will record their statements," he added.
SDCP Abdul Samah said police are investigating the case from all angles, including it being a gangland killing.
"We are looking into the possibility that gangs were involved in the case," he explained.
The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder
