KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist was crushed to death in Segambut Dalam Wednesday morning by a lorry carrying sand.
Witnesses at the site of the accident said the lorry and the motorcycle, which were coming from opposite directions, collided at a traffic light.
A witness, who only wanted to be known as Mugu, told The Star that the motorcyclist was trying to turn but was not given way by the car next to him.
"Since there was no space, he went over to the other lane, during which time the lorry had turned as well and that led to the accident.
"I saw the body and it was evident that the lorry had driven over him," he said, adding that there was no blood from the victim's body.
He added that the lorry driver was then beaten up by friends of the motorcyclist but was later saved by civilians who were driving by.
Police, who arrived at the site minutes after the incident, said they were unable to disclose the identity of the victim who appeared to be in his 30s, and added that they would look into CCTV footage from condominiums around the area.
The lorry driver was taken to the nearest police station to help with investigations.
