Landslip jitters at KL restaurant on Jalan Raja Chulan - La Vie En Rose restaurant

KUALA LUMPUR: A landslip in Jalan Raja Chulan here has not only disrupted the operations of a French restaurant, but also brought fresh fear following daily storms since Wednesday.

La Vie En Rose restaurant manager Till Gangne said a minor landslip first occurred behind the premises on Hari Raya Aidiladha.
“We informed the landowner and a canvas was placed over the affected area.
“But there has been continuous soil movement since then because of the daily rain.
“Last night (Friday) was the worst. A large amount of soil came crashing down from the hillslope.
“Fearing the worst, we closed early.”
He said the landslip occurred at 8pm while his three cooks were working in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant.
“We heard a loud thump and found the earth had piled right up to the back doorstep.
“We told our customers to leave and we informed the authorities.”
Gangne said some concrete slabs also fell and nearly hit a gas cylinder behind the restaurant.
City Hall project implementation and operations chairman Datuk Mohd Najib Mohd said they had issued a notice to the owner of the land about the incident.
“Our officers will visit the scene on Monday before discussing the matter with the landowner.”
Najib advised the restaurant to stop operating until further notice.
