KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen, two Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers and a retiree were charged in two separate Sessions Courts here with accepting bribes totalling RM5,600.
Lans Kpl Muhammad Nazruldin Chee Chau Vui, 34, pleaded not guilty to receiving RM800 from businessman Lanny Ong Boon Hsien, 32, for not taking action against him for several offences including diesel smuggling activities.
He was accused of taking the bribe at a fast food restaurant in Jalan Cendikiawan, Taman Connaught at Cheras, at about 6.45pm on June 4 last year.
Judge Allaudeen Ismail fixed RM7,000 bail and set Nov 18 for mention of the case.
In another court, Sjn Shaharuddin Abdul Shukor, 54, claimed trial to accepting RM300 from trader Harcharanjit Singh Ranjit Singh, 50, as an inducement to ensure that investigation is carried out for a Jinjang police report made on Nov 1 last year.

Judge Rosbiahanin Arifin set bail at RM6,000 pending mention on Nov 14.
DBKL enforcement officers Mohd Nasir Danuri, 45, Mohamad Rezuan Chan, 41, and former City Hall employee Ja’affar Ibrahim, 57, were jointly charged with two counts of receiving RM2,000 and RM500 each from restaurant owner Chew Hian Tat as an inducement for not taking action against the eatery which did not have a valid business premises licence under the Food Establishment Licensing By-law 1985.
Mohd Nasir and Mohamad Rezuan were also jointly charged with accepting RM1,000 bribe from Chew for the same purpose.
They were accused of committing the offence at Restoran Suria Teh Tarik at Jalan MRR2, Ampang, on Oct 22 and Oct 24.
All three pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge Rosbiahanin granted bail of RM20,000 for each charge for each person pending mention on Nov 13.
Lans Kpl Muhammad Nazruldin, Sjn Shaharuddin, Mohd Nasir, Mohamad Rezuan and Ja’affar were accused under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission 2009 and Section 165 of the Penal Code. The prosecution was led by MACC deputy public prosecutor Lokman Kasim while the five were not represented.
