JPJ investigating quality issues of road tax stickers

The JPJ (Road Transport Department) is currently reviewing the quality of roadtax stickers in view of complaints by motorists that the sticker, replaced once or twice each year, is easily torn and also fades easily.
Motorists who find their roadtax sticker has been torn or faded can provide the information on the JPJ Facebook Page indicating the month of expiry/location where they obtained the sticker.
Based on feedback, the department will assess the adhesive quality of the sticker and make improvements to ensure that it is more durable.
The sticker type of roadtax disc replaced the paper type many years ago in an effort to prevent forgeries as well as theft. While it achieves those objectives, motorists have also found it is a problem if they have tinting film on the windscreen as removal of the sticker can damage the film.
As a result, many apply the roadtax sticker to a plastic sheet which is then stuck on the glass. However, the JPJ advises against doing this as it means the sticker can be easily stolen.
The department will replace damaged stickers at no charge at JPJ counters nationwide (subject to terms and conditions).
