Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today denied a news report that Malaysia has offered to allow the United States to use one of its bases for a detachment of new maritime surveillance planes.
"Not true," he said briefly when the question was raised at a press conference in Tumpat.
He refused to elaborate further, saying only that the report by international news agency Reuters was false.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had earlier sidestepped the question, asking reporters to refer to Hishammuddin instead.
"You have to ask the defence minister," he said. – September 13, 2014.
