KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has busted an international drug smuggling syndicate which uses courier services to distribute illegal substances and seized RM2.7mil worth of syabu.
Police also arrested six men, including four Nigerian college students, following raids in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday and Thursday.
Federal Narcotics criminal investigations director Comm Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the syndicate was importing syabu from a supplier in China, using courier services to mask their activities.
"We conducted surveillance after receiving a tip-off from the public. The Chinese suppliers would send the drugs directly to the syndicate, who would then sell the drugs locally," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Friday.
He added that there was also a possibility that the syndicate would repackage the drugs before exporting it to neighbouring countries.
"We expect to make more arrests soon," he said.
