Malaysians bid to break selfie world record
A new Guinness World Record was made on National Day when 613 selfies were taken in an hour.
It broke the previous record of 421 selfies taken in an hour was made by Canadian actress, Melinda Shankar in 2013 on Canada Day, July 1.
However, Malaysian Foundation for Innovation (YIM) chief executive officer Muhammad Aziph Mustapha, the official record from Guinness World Records will only be tallied and announced in three to four weeks.

Despite the scorching weather, more than 700 participants waited in line in Kuala Lumpur on the National Day in the attempt to break the record.
The line snaked all the way from the Coliseum Theatre until the Sogo mall in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
The event was organised by YIM - an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

Some participants were spotted taking selfies with their handheld monopod as they stood in the queue.
As the clock started, one by one the participants stepped up to the stage for a selfie with Hazwan Noor.

The pictures taken during the event were judged by three lecturers in photography, two from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and one from the Multimedia University Cyberjaya (MMU).
The result of the selfie would be announced within the next three to four weeks.
