DAMANSARA: A couple were nabbed following a five-kilometre high speed chase which left at least two other cars damaged at the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), here, last night.
In the 10.30pm incident, a police patrol car had spotted the couple acting suspiciously in a blue Hyundai Atos at an industrial site near Kota Damansara.
Upon seeing the cops, the 17-year-old driver stepped on the gas pedal.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said the driver was driving recklessly and rammed into a Honda Civic in his attempt to escape.
"The suspect and the 17-year-old girl were arrested for further investigation," he said.
Azmi said the suspects sustained minor injuries.
It was learnt that the driver, who did not have a valid driving license had braved himself to go against the traffic flow to escape which caused him to crash into the Honda Civic and knocked into several other cars.
Check on the scene revealed the Honda Civic was badly damaged but the driver escaped with minor injuries.
