Cops nab woman, release info of alleged 15, in nude games
Police have arrested a woman and released details of the 15 people who were allegedly involved in the nude sport games held in May on a beach in Penang.
The woman, identified only as 'Ellen', was picked up at 9.55pm last night.
Southwest district police chief Superintendent Lai Fah Hin said the arrest was made following a report filed in Bayan Lepas.
"We are confident this Ellen, who is a 34-year-old private music teacher from Penang, can help our investigations.
"We appeal to the rest of the group to come forward to assist investigations. Please go to the nearest police station," he said at the district police headquarters in Balik Pulau today.
Police have also appealed to those with information of the individuals to notify investigation officer Assistant Superintendent Mohd Sani Mat Ali on 012-5424455.
Lai said the 15 are all in their 20s to 50s.
The two main individuals are Chew Tok Hwa and Albert Yam.
Chew is reported to be a retired English teacher and a former Gerakan Wanita chief from Taman Ria Jaya in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
Yam is an unemployed Malaysian with Singaporean citizenship.
"We have yet to locate them," he said.
The others are identified as Kok Hong, a director from Singapore; Singaporeans Terry and Lionel Lau; Malaysians Carmen Chan, Thomas Kong, Janice, Justin Ang, and Michael; Burmese Newman and his unnamed girlfriend; Indian national James Kumar and Filipino Marvin Cuevas.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi yesterday said police would release details of the individuals if they failed to turn up voluntarily to assist investigations.
He also said the police will seek cooperation from their counterparts in the other countries to trace their citizens who were involved in the nude games in Teluk Bahang. – August 8, 2014.
