The driver of the late Karpal Singh who was killed in a road accident last April has claimed trial to charge of dangerous and reckless driving.
C. Selvam, an Indian national, was charged in the Kampar Sessions Court on July 9.
He has been remanded as he was unable to post the RM5,000 bail.

The court fixed August 8 for mention.
Selvam is alleged to have committed the offence at KM306.1 of the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung in Kampar at 1.10am on April 17.
The Bukit Gelugor MP and veteran DAP leader and personal assistant Michael Cornelius, 39, died on the spot after their multi-purpose vehicle was involved in a collision with a lorry.
Karpal’s driver pleads not guilty to dangerous, reckless driving

The collision ripped open the left side of the MPV where Karpal and Michael were seated, and caused injuries that killed both men.
Indonesian maid Selfiana Rengga, 26, was seriously injured and was in a comma but later regained consciousness.
Selvam and Karpal's son Ramkarpal escaped with minor injuries.
The 73-year-old Karpal, who was wheelchair-bound following a road accident in 2005, was on his way to Penang to attend a court case.
The charge carries a jail term of up to five years or fine up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.
The court could also bar the convicted person from driving for a maximum 12 months.
Ramkarpal said he has been summoned to be prosecution witness together with lorry driver Abu Mansor Mohd. – July 31, 2014.
